New data from the RECOVER study presented at the XVIII World Federation of Neuro­logy World Congress on Parkinson’s Disease and Related Disorders in Miami Beach, Florida, showed that Neupro (rotigotine) was associated with clinically relevant and statistically significant improvements in sleep and early morning motor symptoms compared to placebo, UCB (Pharma) has announced.

Novartis has launched Onbrez (Indacaterol) as a new once-daily maintenance bronchodilator in adult patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). This follows European approval, which was received in December (2009).

Boehringer Ingelheim has announced very positive results from their RE-COVER study – the most advanced trial programme assessing a novel oral anticoagulant in development for acute venous thrombo-embolism (VTE) treatment – presented at the American Society of Haematology annual meeting and published in the New England Journal of Medicine online.
