• Experience at a senior level – a minimum of 5 years post qualification experience
• MRCP/MRCPI/MRCGP/FRCSI or equivalent post graduate qualification would be desirable


We can offer the successful candidate a broad range of experience in the following areas:


• To lead, organise and coordinate the work of the resident medical staff, ensuring the highest standards of patient care for all patients attending/admitted to the Hermitage Medical Clinic,
this includes emergency and elective admissions
• Clinical Care of patients
• Co-ordination, supervision and teaching of Medical Students attached to the Hospital
• Close liaison with Consultants
• Close liaison with Nursing and Allied Health colleagues.

7 x SHO POSTS GENERAL SURGERY

Applications are invited for the above vacancies from 1st of July 2010 from suitably qualified and experienced NCHD’s. All the posts are recognised as training posts by RCSI. Training involves exposure to general surgery, orthopaedics, urology and ENT surgery. The sub specialist interests in general surgery include thoracic, colorectal, oesophagogastric and obesity surgery. There is an active laparoscopic colorectal and upper GI programme within the general surgical department. The surgical SHO regularly acts as first assistant to the Consultant in theatre. Research is actively encouraged in the hospital and we have a proven track record of such with our SHOs having successfully published audits, case reports and manuscripts. There is an extensive under and post graduate training programme in which all SHO’s are encouraged to partake.

Entry Requirements:
Candidates are eligible for entry on completion of their Intern year.
Candidates must be eligible for registration on the trainee specialist division of the Irish Medical Council from 1st July 2010.
